EVE and CATL, what is the difference?

Ⅰ. Comparing Technology and Performance

CATL

Technology leadership: CATL's lithium iron phosphate battery density is slightly higher than EVE. It is known for its long cycle life and excellent thermal stability. It is often used in high-demand application scenarios, such as large energy storage systems, EVs, etc.

Safety: It adopts a mature thermal management system to effectively prevent overheating and thermal runaway, and is suitable for long-term use in homes and EVs. Through multi-dimensional designs such as chemical safety and high-voltage safety, it adapts to the high safety requirements of large energy storage power stations. For example, its Jinjiang Energy Storage Power Station Project (30MW/108MWh) has a cumulative discharge of 68.52GWh, verifying the reliability of the technology

Consistency: The battery pack has high consistency in cells, and the attenuation is smoother in long-term use. The system is stable and can ensure stability in long-term use.

Energy storage: CATL's lithium iron phosphate batteries are widely used in home and commercial energy storage systems, and have been widely verified in the international market. Their batteries have stronger durability and longer service life (up to 15 years or more)

EVE

Mature technology: EVE Energy's lithium iron phosphate battery technology is also very mature, and it has laid out in emerging technology fields such as ternary lithium batteries, solid-state batteries, and sodium-ion batteries. A more radical large-cell strategy, launching a 628Ah energy storage cell (Mr. Big) in 2024, using a stacking process, the energy density is 5% higher than the winding process, the internal resistance is reduced by 10%, and the cycle life is increased by 10%

Modular design: Provide energy storage batteries of various specifications, suitable for home energy storage systems of different sizes.

Energy storage: EVE Energy's lithium iron phosphate batteries are widely used in home energy storage, solar energy storage and other fields. Its A+ grade battery is of high quality and usually guarantees a longer number of cycles and stable performance.

Technical risks: The stacking process may sacrifice yield and needs to solve consistency issues. CATL's route is more conservative but its production line compatibility is stronger.

Ⅱ. Market performance

CATL

CATL is the world's largest lithium battery manufacturer, with a global battery market share of 37.9% in 2024 and energy storage installed capacity ranking first in the world for many consecutive years.

CATL has long-term cooperation with leading companies such as State Grid, Tesla, BMW, and Volkswagen, and its energy storage systems have been applied to multiple benchmark projects, etc., and well-known automobile brands.

EVE

Focus on large-capacity battery cells and industrial and commercial energy storage markets to avoid direct confrontation with CATL on the grid side.

Although EVE is relatively small in the global battery market, its batteries have a good reputation in many industries and have a certain share in the European and Chinese domestic markets. In particular, it performs well in home energy storage systems and some power tool batteries.

Ⅲ. Target customers:

CATL

Suitable for users with high requirements for performance, reliability and brand maturity, especially medium and large household energy storage systems and investors focusing on the power battery and high-end electric vehicle markets.

EVE
Suitable for investors who are optimistic about energy storage, consumer electronics and emerging battery technologies. And those who have a demand for small and medium-sized energy storage solutions.
